A small mosque in Blockhouse was filled to overflowing with people coming to honour the Muslims killed in Quebec last week.
Around 150 people showed up to a memorial service yesterday to show their solidarity.
Sam Ali lead the gathering.
He says tragedies like this affect more than just the Muslim community.
“We were together, we where sharing a loss, and it was a human loss,” he says. “I think the silver lining is that we can unite against any kind of hatred.”
Ali says he’s overwhelmed by the outpouring of support.
“Unbelievable…just, unbelievable. The inside was full and we had lots of people outside. It was great. It was just wonderful.”
The event in Blockhouse was one of several similar gatherings across the South Shore over the past week.
