Curlers Raise Money For Five New Beds In Veteran’s Unit

Hundreds will be participating in Curl For A Cause this weekend in Lunenburg.

It’s one of the major fundraisers for The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore.

Managing director, Arleen Stevens says the success of the event relies heavily on the hard work of close to 60 volunteers.

Ten of those volunteers have been working on planning the curling bonspeil since last fall. Then there are close to 5 more volunteers donating everything from time to food.

“We also have volunteers who donate food throughout the weekend. They donate their time to score the curling games. They help us hang signage,” said Stevens.

This year the Foundation is hoping to raise 42-thousand dollars to buy five new beds for the veterans unit of the Fishermens Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg.

You can also donate by attending the chowder supper and silent auction on Saturday night.

The silent auction is open now and will close Sunday night at 6.
