Around 100 people showed up to celebrate Mary Fay and her team yesterday.
It’s been a banner year for the 17 year-old.
Fay and her team won gold at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Stratford, Ontario.
The Chester native then joined teammate Karlee Burgess to help Canada win gold at the Youth Winter Olympic Games in Norway.
She says the community support has been overwhelming.
“It’s pretty surreal to see everyone come out and it’s really good for your confidence knowing that you’re going to represent Canada and you have all these people behind you.”
Team Fay got to play a friendly game against Nova Scotia curling legend Colleen Jones.
The team were then greeted by friends and fans who wanted to show their appreciation.
Team Fay takes off for Copenhagen, Denmark this week.
They’re hoping to add more gold to their collection at the World Junior Curling Championships, starting March 5.
