People in Bridgewater could soon have another way to travel.
Bridgewater is following the lead of other communities looking at implementing a local transit system.
Yarmouth has had a new bus system up and running for about a month
Mayor David Walker says one councillor took an opportunity to give it a try.
“Councillor Graves had been in Yarmouth,” he says, “and he bought a ticket and rode the transit system. He got a feel for what it was like and how it operated and what not.”
Walker says they invited Yarmouth’s mayor, Pam Mood, to come talk about the logistics of creating a transit system from scratch.
“We wanted to know how they set it up, how it was organized, what it cost, how it was working …”
He says next steps will be discussed at a council session later this month.
