Chester Man Charged After Attempting To Flee Police

A Chester man is facing charges after failing to stop for police… or a stop sign.

At around 9:35 yesterday morning an RCMP Traffic Services member was sitting in a parking lot in Liverpool observing traffic when they saw a car speed by.

The officer attempted to stop the car but the driver did not stop and sped past a stop sign at the three-way intersection at Main and Market Street.

The car crashed into a snow bank in front of the Scotiabank, a near miss for the building which has been hit by drivers in the past.

The 23-year-old driver then attempted to flee but was arrested a short time later.

He’s facing charges of driving to the left of a double solid line, failing to stop at a stop sign, and careless driving.

He was also driving with a revoked licence, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, which he’s also facing charges for.

The man has been released from custody and is set to appear in court May 10.
