Blood Collection Services At Barrington Health Centre Still Not Available

The Barrington Health Clinic is still not offering blood collection services.

A leak caused by heavy rain damaged the building in Barrington Passage and the Health Authority announced the service had ceased late last month.

Spokesperson Fraser Mooney says work on repairs is progressing.

“We’ve been very pleased with the work that the contractors have done. Some of the work that has been done includes the removal of damaged material, installation of a vapour barrier and replacing drywall.”

Mooney says after a fresh coat of paint, Environmental Services will have to do a thorough cleaning to bring it up to infection prevention and control standards.

He says they hope to have service and staff back at the health centre by the week of November 6th or the week after, at the latest.

Those requiring bloodwork can visit Roseway Hospital in Shelburne or Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

Collection hours are Monday to Friday 8am-11am at Roseway and 7:30-11:30 am in Yarmouth.
