The Salvation Army Finds Freezers In Time For Christmas Turkeys

The Salvation Army Christmas turkeys officially have a place to stay.

For 10 years Sears stored the turkeys as part of the Hamper Program, but their doors closed earlier this year.

Major Wilson Sutton with Bridgewater’s Salvation Army Store says residents and businesses offered their space.

He says this means they can help give a little extra for families over the holidays.

“With the community coming together as they do, it helps us to help families in need,” he says.

“And helps us at Christmas time to be able to put food on their table … the other money we have we can get some extra toys for children to have a good Christmas.”

As of now the Army has 150 families and 50 couples reigsted for a turkey.

Residents are able to drop off turkeys starting Monday.

Drop-off locations: Gow’s Furniture, Gow’s Home Hardware, Wiles Lake Farmers Market, Bridgewater Salvation Army Thrift Store.
