Lunenburg Foundry Will Be Working After Dark

The darkest days of the year are causing headaches for the Lunenburg Foundry.

The yard is trying to complete work on a couple of big jobs but are running out of daylight.

Town by-laws only allow noise until sundown.

Representatives from the foundry asked council Tuesday for a temporary exemption that would allow them to work until 10:00pm.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says the foundry approached council to avoid any issues with their neighbours on Pelham Street.

“The work has already begun and we have not received complaints so I take some comfort in that. And I assume and hope that the measures that they’ve put in place to avoid nuisance to the neighbours from dust and noise have worked thus far.”

The foundry has been granted a 13 day exemption.

They plan to add extra shifts to ensure all the work is completed on time.
