Ross Farm Museum Celebrates 24th Annual Christmas In The Country

It’s Christmas with a country twist.

Ross Farm Museum is celebrating their 24th annual Christmas In The Country.

Joan Lenihan with the Farm says it’s not just a community event it’s a family event.

“Just the experience of going and picking your own Christmas Tree out off a tree lot, cutting it fresh; it’s just a great weekend,” she says.

“People really enjoy themselves.”

But it’s also the ambience.

Lenihan says the decorations and the events add to the country feel.

It’s what separates them from a city Christmas.

“Just done with a natural brush,” she says.

“And where we are a museum, representing from 1820 to 1920 … up on site [in] the museum part, there is no glitter. It’s all set in the older ways.”

She says they also have horse-drawn wagon rides.

Christmas In The Country is part of The New Ross Christmas Festival.

It gets underway tonight with the parade of lights followed by the lighting of the tree.

There is a full schedule of Christmas events happening this weekend:

1. New Ross Christmas Festival.

2. The 13th Annual Father Christmas Festival in Mahone Bay.

3. Christmas on the Mersey.
