The president of the Nova Scotia Teachers Union is calling Friday’s rally a success.
Liette Doucet says even though government has given no indication they’ve been moved from their current course of action she hasn’t given up hope.
“I’m hoping that the MLAs will listen to their constituents over the weekend. I know of several people who will be trying to contact them and will still be trying to get their voices heard, and asking that they vote no on this bill.”

She says the province had no choice but to hear them during Friday’s rally.
But, Doucet says that doesn’t mean the government is listening.
“The passion from those teachers and describing what they’re dealing with in the classroom and in the schools everyday. If the MLAs didn’t hear that then I don’t know what they’re thinking.”
Doucet says she feels teachers made their point on Friday and there’s no plan for a strike while they wait for the final decision to come down on Tuesday.
She says teachers will return to their work-to-rule job action while they wait to see if the McNeil Liberals change their mind on Bill 75.
She hasn’t given up hope, but she says the NSTU is prepared to fight the bill in court if it’s passed.
