Lately there has been a lot of conversation around the office and in the community about the upcoming US Election, and let’s face it, it is certainly entertaining. But more importantly, there is an election being held this month that affects us a lot more than the ballots being cast south of the border.
The 2020 Municipal Election is October 17 and thanks to CoVid-19, it is a lot different than any other one we have ever witnessed.

So what will voting in this month’s Municipal Election look like? For the majority of us, you will be casting your ballot from home either by phone or online. One exception I have found is the Region of Queens Municipality as they will have polling stations.

Anyone reading this has an internet connection and I have found that an easy search of
“How do I vote in….”
will give you details on voting in your area. I have attempted to cover everyone with the following links. The big thing is if you did not receive a letter with your voting information, you need to contact the Returning Officer for your area. You must have your voter information for your voice to be heard with a vote online or over the telephone.

The other weird thing about an election in 2020, meeting the candidates though a computer screen. Tomorrow night Mahone Bay will have that chance. They are also offering in person tablet voting in the town.

I know it is an odd way of doing things. Living in the county with sketchy internet myself, I feel your pain and share your concern with online voting. But there is the telephone as an option too.
