That One Time Google Maps Failed Me…..

I had a bit of an interesting experience during my vacation. I have heard of this happening to other people, but this is the first time my Goggle Maps has failed me.

We took advantage of the Atlantic Bubble during my vacation and took a little road trip to NB. The plan was to hike to an incredible waterfall that also had a natural pool. (Hello…amazing Instagram photo)…

But yeah..things didn’t quite go as planned.

So the hike is called…Laverty Falls. It’s an hour off the highway and everything seemed great, till our GPS lead us to an interesting road. It was a tad bit rough and as we continued on it, it wasn’t hard to tell it was turning into a 4-wheeler trail…so did we turn back? Of course not…that would have been smart.

45 mins later we realized that there was no falls and now we needed to turn around. Luckily we had a Crosstrek and was able to get safely back on the main road. It was some serious off-roading. I can not stress enough, that there was some serious rocks…and holes. lol.

Long story short, we went to a local store only to find out that we are not the only ones to have this happen. They have had many people stop in saying they ended up at the same spot (probably not 45 minutes down the trail though). Turns out our service left and I’m guessing that’s why it lead us where it did. Oh…and there were no road signs to point us in the right direction.

By that time we found out the way we were suppose to go…we cut our losses and decided it wasn’t our day, so the hike didn’t happen and the falls remain a mystery to us (yeah…I didn’t see that photo above)….but hey…we had a lot of laughs and these are the adventures you remember.

Just some advice though….maybe take a screen shot of your destination when you go out on adventures. Then you have something to double check if you loose service. Better safe than sorry. Oh and if you ever decide to check out Laverty Falls….if you get to a sketchy back woods road…don’t go down it.
