A proposed study on amalgamation in Lunenburg County is up for discussion during an upcoming joint meeting.
The Towns of Bridgewater, Mahone Bay, and Lunenburg along with the Municipality of Lunenburg have agreed to get together.
Mayor Don Downe says they can’t move forward until a decision on the study is made.
“I think what’s really important is that we have everybody around the table,” he says, “with all the factual information, so that everyone understands what’s being proposed.”
Downe says there’s been a lot of miscommunication.
“Remember those old days when you would tell a story?” he says. “When you were in Scouts or Girl Guides, or whatever, and you’d whisper in somebody’s ear and by the time it got around the circle the story had changed 100%.”
Discussions stalled a few weeks ago when some felt other options should be researched as well.
The meeting could be scheduled in the next month.
