Small changes that will make a big difference
As temperatures rise, the snow melts, and the sun shines later into the evening… there’s a sense that Spring has arrived. It feels like a new beginning and a good time to reset your home, your mind, and body.
Transformations can be difficult (and overwhelming), so the key to success is to break large goals into small, manageable tasks. Give yourself grace and celebrate all progress and improvements.

When it comes to your home, start by tackling one small project at a time. If you don’t have the time or energy to undertake an entire room, choose a drawer or closet that needs organizing and a deep clean.
Start with a good purge. Then, before you put things back, think about how you use the space and the items in it. Put some thought into putting a system in place that will allow the space to remain organized. Labels, baskets, and hooks can be very helpful.
Clear shoe racks are genius tools for organizing spaces. In my house, I have clear shoe racks hanging on the backs of several doors. They utilize the unused space behind a door, and the clear pockets make all the contents visible and easy to find. Clear shoe racks are fantastic for storing hats and mitts, socks, craft supplies, LEGO or other small toys, water bottles, and more.

Small DIY projects are also wonderful this time of year. Big renovations can take a lot of time and money, so try to do a few simple things to refresh a space instead. Create a list of the projects you want to complete, prioritize, and start working your way through the tasks whenever you get the chance. Start with small and inexpensive changes that will make you feel like you are making improvements without causing you to feel overwhelmed. Try painting a room, buying new throw pillows, adding some new artwork to a wall or investing in new bedding.

Spring is also a perfect time to work on improving your body and mind. Again, it’s helpful to focus on making small changes. Try going to bed an hour earlier, stop taking your phone to bed at night, set a goal for drinking more water, go on walks after supper, unsubscribe to email lists, or add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. Focus on small, consistent habits, and they will turn into sustainable lifestyle changes.
Small changes and habits really do add up over time. Use the next few weeks to get organized, make your life less chaotic, and embrace a healthier and happier life. Set yourself up for a more relaxed and happier summer season.
