It was an emotional day for family and friends as they gathered in support of Corinna Ann Durling, who passed away at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the age of 65.
Corinna was the devoted life partner of David Alexander of New Germany. The two met in 1977 and built a life filled with companionship, laughter, and shared adventures. Together they enjoyed years of camping, country music, and many spirited games of auction 45’s and cribbage. In their younger years, they travelled to New Hampshire to take in the excitement of NASCAR races, cheering on their favourite drivers. Their bond was remarkable — steadfast through every joy and every challenge, in sickness and in health.
Corinna spent many years employed with National Sea. When the fishing industry declined, she returned to school at NSCC – Lunenburg Campus, Bridgewater, completing the Home Support Program. She went on to work with Lunenburg County Home Support, where she became one of the most requested caregivers — some clients eagerly hoped to see her return through their door.
Generosity was at the heart of who Corinna was. She was a support to many people throughout her life, especially younger ones who benefited from her kindness and guidance. She ran what friends fondly called her “private dispatch,” checking in on elderly neighbours and community members, anticipating their needs, and ensuring they were never alone in their isolation. She and David were deeply woven into the lives of friends, family, and their community. When David sold carrots, Corinna embraced the role of “Carrot Queen,” fielding calls and tending to customers with her familiar warmth.
Corinna is survived by her father Raymond; sister, Annette (John) Conrad; brother, Cordell (Sandra); niece, Rochelle (Zane); nephew, Ryan (Amanda and Caden); and her beloved great‑nephew, Braylon Russell, who held a special place in her heart.
She was predeceased by her mother Beatrice (Jodrey); grandparents, Charlie and Susie Joudrey, and brother, Todd.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Shoreham Village in Chester, and to all who have offered kindness and support during this difficult time.
Arrangements entrusted to C.F. Sweeny’s Funeral Home, #4895 Highway 10, New Germany. In keeping with Corinna’s wishes, there will be no public service.
For those wishing to honour her memory, donations may be made to the New Germany and Area Medical Centre, the Canadian Diabetes Association, or South Shore Regional Hospital.
