Two charged after alleged kidnapping in Bible Hill

Two people are facing charges after RCMP say a man was kidnapped from a home in Bible Hill earlier this week.

Police say officers were called to a residence on Vimy Road at about 10:20 a.m. on May 27 after receiving a report that a man and woman had abducted a man known to them and fled the area in a silver Hyundai Elantra.

RCMP immediately launched a search that involved the force’s Critical Incident Program, including the Emergency Response Team and Air Services.

Officers later spotted the vehicle in Bible Hill but lost sight of it in traffic.

During the search, investigators learned the victim had left the suspects and was travelling on a motorcycle. Truro Police officers stopped the motorcycle on Park Street and safely located the victim.

RCMP say the motorcycle driver had assisted the victim and was not involved in the alleged kidnapping.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police later located the suspect vehicle parked behind a home on Main Street in Bible Hill. At approximately 12:55 p.m., Emergency Response Team members arrested a man and woman as they exited the residence.

RCMP say the man had injuries consistent with a gunshot wound that occurred before police became involved. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 34-year-old Halifax man and a 37-year-old woman from Lantz have both been charged with kidnapping.

The Halifax man also faces charges of failing to comply with a probation order and operating a vehicle while prohibited.

The investigation remains ongoing, including the circumstances surrounding the man’s gunshot wound.
