IWK Telethon raises record-breaking $9.1 million

A record-breaking finish over the weekend for the IWK Telethon in its 42nd year.

The IWK Foundation says more than $9.1 million was raised for children in the Maritimes.

It is the largest annual fundraiser for the hospital and supports the hospital’s most urgent needs, according to a news release on their website.

“Funds raised this year will help purchase equipment, advance research and innovation, and support care that changes lives every day—giving children the best possible chance to heal, grow and make their biggest dreams come true,” the foundation wrote in a statement.

They say maritimers have once again shown their extraordinary power to give back to the community.

The eight-hour broadcast ran on CTV Sunday, and the grand total raised was $9,110,219.34.
