Applications now open for Emergency Services Provider Fund

Applications are now being accepted for the Emergency Services Provider Fund, which supports first responders and fire departments across the region.

The Emergency Services Provider Fund has 2 different funding streams: emergency service regional funding and emergency service individual organization funding.

Funding for individuals will helps cover the cost of essential emergency response equipment, including personal protective gear, communications tools, emergency power supplies, rescue equipment, and HAZMAT supplies while regional funding will cover things like training, utility vehicles, risk reduction strategies, and other program enhancements.

Organizations who are eligible for funding are fire departments, ground and search rescue teams, hazardous materials (HAZMAT) organizations, and first responders. However, applicants can only receive funding once every two years, and any funding received must be used by 2028.

Officials say $200,000 is available for regional service funding, with individual organizations eligible for up to $30,000.

For the current application intake period, you can apply for emergency service individual organization funding from 1 June 2026 to 31 July 2026, and you can apply for emergency service regional funding from 1 September 2026 to 31 October 2026.

Once a project is approved, the Department of Emergency Management will provide successful applicants with an approval letter and terms and conditions that outline the conditions of the funding.

Applications can be submitted online.
