Students at North Queens Community School are getting a boost for an upcoming trip to Europe.
The Masonic Lodge Foundation is expected to announce a financial grant on Sunday to help 14 students travel for the centennial commemmoration at Vimy Ridge from April 6-17.
Teacher Julie Ramey feels it’s a valuable trip for everyone involved.
“Taking them through the steps of the soldiers who would’ve fought in World War I and World War II to represent our country, gives them a look at the history of the events that have happened and certainly expands their world view and lets them visit France, Belgium and the United Kingdom.”
The grade 9-12 students will also make stops at the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam and Railway Dugout Burial Grounds in Belgium to pay tribute to first World War veterans.
They will also travel to England and visit historical sites and museums.
The trip has been planned since 2014 and roughly $20,000 has been raised.
