A full recovery for Davis, the Bridgewater Police Service’s German Shepherd.
The 22-month-old dog is back to working full-time after a follow-up appointment this week with a specialist in New Brunswick.

Davis was only able to participate in light activity for about a month after having surgery in late February to remove a tumour from his right eye.
Constable Morgan Gibson, Davis’ handler, says the dog is feeling no effects of the surgery.
“No complications, no vision issues and no infection. He’s practically vibrating. A month of no exercise isn’t terrbily exciting for him.”
Davis was limited to low energy exercise and obedience following surgery.
Gibson says there is no further risk to the dog’s eye but will continue to do follow-ups during its annual checks with the veterinarian.
He says the dog appears to be in good spirits.
“His confidence is back and he feeds off my energy, so I’m clearly a lot more relaxed and happier than I’ve been since he had to have surgery. It’s pretty stressful making sure that nothing goes wrong.”
The cost of vet bills and sugery will be covered by the Bridgewater Police Service.
