An iconic restaurant location busy again with a new “twist”

It was one of those iconic spots that made us sad to see it close.
There are a number of locations that come to mind as I read that statement. We have lost so many great spots for dining in the area. Remember Cranberries Dining Room in the Fairview Inn? Then there was the Little Red Restaurant and just across the road from that, most recently we saw Jerry’s Diner close. Having grown up in Cookville I was closely connected to the Turkey Burger. Not only was this institution known world wide nearby, but my grandmother worked there for as long as I could remember and I used to mow their lawn and sell vegetables to the restaurant.
Over the years the Turkey Burger on Trunk 10 has seen many changes and then finally closed it’s doors.
The history of this location was documented in the History of West Northfield book published back in 2000.

Over the past 25 years there were many changes at this location and after seeing the parking lot empty for way too long this summer new life has been breathed into this location with the “Cookville Cone Ice Cream Shack“.

The young couple that has worked to open the doors enjoyed a busy soft opening last weekend and are prepared to serve even more frozen goodness over the next few days. If you are planning to drop by for a treat the Cookville Cone will serve you with a smile Thursday and Friday 4-8pm and on Saturday and Sunday 12-8pm. This is a cash only location as well.

That same sight where the Turkey Burger restaurant was built to feed those fishing for salmon on the Lahave River, now serving up ice cream as the Cookville Cone.
Hope to see you there!
