The deputy chief medical officer of health says the number of measles cases in Nova Scotia has climbed slowly.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority confirms there are 13 cases of measles.
Dr. Gaynor Watson-Creed says all of the cases have been linked by people being in the same location as someone who was infected.
She adds, the spread is not surprising because measles is contagious.
The risk remains low to the public because most people are vaccinated.
Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, sleepiness and irritability.
