Bourque Headlines NHL Legends All-Star Game in Bridgewater

A five-time winner of the James Norris trophy as the NHL’s best defenceman is coming to Bridgewater.

Ray Bourque headlines the NHL Legends All-Stars team as they meet the South Shore ‘Overaged’ Lumberjacks Thursday night at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.

The game is in support of the Kiwanis Club of Bluenose Golden K.

The 56 year-old Bourque, who won a Stanley Cup with the Colorado Avalanche before retiring in 2001, says he looks forward to playing in Nova Scotia.

“It’s amazing how the fans still remember you and they’re big fans whether it be the Bruins, Maple Leafs or Canadiens; it’s one of the three. That’s pretty neat.”

Joining Bourque for the game will be hard-shooting Al Iafrate, Gary Leeman and Stephane Richer along with others.

Tickets are available at the LCLC.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
