Local Girl Rings In Her Good Health

There were smiles all around at South Shore Regional Hospital on Wednesday.

Nine year-old Hailey Rodenhiser got to ring the bell in the Journey room after wrapping up her final chemotherapy injection treatments.

It marked the end of 28 months of cancer therapies for Hailey.

Her mother, Jaunita says Hailey has received a lot of support throughout this ordeal.

“She interacts with a lot of her friends at school and at daycare to let them know that this can happen and it’s not something to be scared of. It’s just something that you have to, like she said, to fight and to be brave and to try and conquer it.”

Jaunita says they’d been looking forward to Wednesday for a long time.

“She got so excited that she almost hyperventilated. She was so excited that she started to lose her breath and she cried. They were good tears. She was overwhelmed.”

Jaunita says Hailey still has some oral chemotherapy remaining but is looking forward to going back to school and being with her friends like any other kid.

After nearly 28 months of chemo treatment Hailey Rodenhiser rang the bell in the Journey Room at South Shore Regional Hospital. Congratulations Hailey!!! <3 CKBW South Shore Radio Country 100.7 Nova Scotia Health Authority
