With heavy hearts, the family of Ronald “Ron” Douglas Zinck, 69, announces his passing on Friday, October 23, 2026. Surrounded by the love of his family, Ron passed away at the Q.E.II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. Born in Robinsons Corner, he was a beloved son of the late Arthur and Etta (Armistice) Zinck.
A lifelong resident and cherished figure of Robinsons Corner and the Chester area, Ron was a successful local entrepreneur. In 1982, he founded Ron Zinck’s Trucking, a business he proudly ran for decades before handing over the reins to his son Clyde, who continues his father’s legacy as Clyde Zinck’s Excavation.
Beyond his work, Ron was an avid outdoorsman who looked forward to his annual fishing and hunting trips. In his younger years, he enjoyed raising horses and showing his team of oxen at local fairs and pulls. His lifelong passion for animals continued in recent years through his deep love for his large family of German Shepherds.
Ron will be fondly remembered for his friendly, outgoing nature and wonderful sense of humor. Never one for a short chat, he was always happiest engaging in long, meaningful conversations with friends and neighbours.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his sons, Ronald Jr. (Canaan), Clyde (Emily Cross) (Sherwood), and Andrew (Canaan); his daughters, Amy Zinck-Willie (Vagarro Willie) (Waterloo, ON) and Ashley Zinck (Bronson Sarty) (Bridgetown); and his cherished grandchildren, Mali, Io, Makiya, Mabel, Ethan, Wyatt, and Kaleb. He also leaves behind his brothers, William (Chester), David (Angela) (Blackfalds, AB), James (Sherwood), and Jack (Upper Vaughan); his sisters, Stella Barnes (Kentville), Eris (Henry) Richardson (Halifax), and Geraldine (Robert) Nauss (Mahone Bay); along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his siblings Clyde Sr., Shirley, and Arthur.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Ron’s memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
