A setback for the Street Dance in Shelburne.
The popular event held on Water Street will not happen on August 1.
Mayor Karen Mattatall has organized the event for about the last seven years for the volunteer fire department.
She says they couldn’t commit to it this year.
“Unfortunately, this year they have had some changes in their department and they just didn’t have the man power to pull it together.”
Mattatall says it is a large undertaking with liquor licenses, fences, volunteers and security needed.
Street dancing dates back to 1783 in Shelburne.
Mattatall says it’s disappointing but hopes another group will step forward to hold it on a different date this year or bring it back in 2016.
