Bridgewater residents could see a small break in their tax rate this year.
Town council is in the middle of its budget deliberations.
They have a balanced draft budget at this time, which includes a one cent reduction in both the residential and commercial tax rate.
Mayor David Mitchell says they still have discussions planned and things could change.
“It’s a step in the right direction. We all know that if you keep the tax rate the same, people still pay more because their assessment goes up. But again, we do still have some budget meetings to go through and it is still just a draft at this point.”
The current tax rates are set at $1.65 and $3.99 for residents and businesses, respectively.
Another budget talk is scheduled for Monday night with an approval scheduled for April 24.
