Immigration Officer Arrested For Sexual Assault

A two year investigation has ended with the arrest of an employee with Canada Border Services.

Fifty-five year-old Carie Dexter Willis has been charged with sexual assault, breach of trust and extortion.

Constable Dianne Woodworth says police believe Willis used his position as an immigration officer to assault a 26-year old deportee several times in 2003.

“We’re very happy that this lady came forward even though it’s 13 years later,” she says. “It’s a drawn out process but to come to a conclusion like this, it’s worth it.”

Woodworth says they take allegations like this seriously.

“It’s important that people know that if they’re victims of this type of incidents the police are here to help them and protect them, and to come forward and we’ll do what we can.”

Investigators travelled to Montreal to retrieve Willis so he could answer the charges in Halifax.

He has since been released, but is due back in court on May 9th.
