The mayoral race in Bridgewater will be contested.
David Mitchell is the second person to announce their decision to run for the position.
The 42 year-old served as town councillor in 2004 and 2008.
He decided not to re-offer in 2012, choosing to run for provincial politics.
Mitchell says he’s eager to get back to the table.
“The potential of Bridgewater is unlimited. Geographically, our location and proximity to Halifax is perfect. This community is home and I want to see it succeed and I want to be part of that success.”
David Walker is also running for a second term as the town’s mayor.
Mitchell says there are lingering issues that need to be solved.
“We have a growing senior population but we also see the continued outmigration of our young people and that hasn’t changed in over a decade. That needs to change and it needs to change quickly.”
The municipal election will be held October 15.
