The Farley Mowat vessel in Shelburne will be in town for a little longer.
The Federal Court of Canada has granted the ship’s owner, Tracy Dodds, an extension to finish dismantling it.
Dodds was supposed to have the vessel removed from the Shelburne Marine Terminal by last Friday.
However, he complained recent bad weather and high winds caused a delay.
A judge has given Dodds until April 22 to complete the work.
He faces a $5,000 fine and a maximum of 20 days in jail if he misses the deadline.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says she anticipates the ship will be removed by the new extension date.
