Picton Castle Returns To Lunenburg; Prepares For Next Voyage

The Picton Castle has returned home to Lunenburg.

The tall ship left last October for a transatlantic voyage and arrived home late last week.

It made stops in Western Europe, Africa, and the Carribean.

Voyage Coordinator, Maggie Ostler, says the trip helped train about 40 people.

“They all learn how to steer the ship, they all learn how to do forward lookout. They learn how to handle the sails and everybody also participates in the ship’s maintenance.

The vessel is home for roughly two weeks before it begins its next voyage to France.

Parts of the Picton Castle will be painted different colours including the hull, from white to black.

The ships will be filmed for a television documentary while it’s out at sea.

No other details were provided.
