Nova Scotia Business Inc. says Cooke Aquaculture has repaid $2-million to the province.
The money was returned after the company didn’t build a processing plant in Shelburne county.
Town of Shelburne Mayor Karen Mattatall says a letter from the premier suggests any money received will not be re-invested in the area.
However, she says it’s money that was dedicated to economic development.
“I hope we will be continuing to press the province to understand that it is a good investment to put that money back in Shelburne county.”
Mattatall says the $2-million could provide a huge benefit.
But, she stopped short of announcing any projects where the money could be invested.
