A Transit System May Be Coming To Queens County

Queens County residents will soon find it easier to travel.

A door-to-door transit service is in the works through a Queens Country Transportation Working Group.

The group is made up of various organizations in the area.

Gary Jones is a member and says they want to keep everyone in the county connected.

He says the best way to do that is through transportation.

“It’s very important that we have an all-inclusive, accessible and effective transit service that is sustainable year-round.”

Jones says this will help get seniors out and travelling.

“And there’s other people that aren’t necessarily as fortunate as others,” he says.

“They want to have a reliable, safe, accessible and affordable way to get there.”

Jones says they will present their business plan to Region of Queens Municipal Council March 15th.

He says the program will be tested in Liverpool next summer before it’s expanded across the county.

The cost for passengers hasn’t been decided yet.
