Provincial Lumberjack Competition Coming To Our Region This Summer

Lumberjacks from across the province will be in Barrington this summer.

The Nova Scotia Lumberjack Competition will be held in the Shelburne County community this June.

Burlin Nickerson, a lumberjack competitor and Pubnico native says details, such as location are still being finalized.

“And as far as sponsorship and all the other things that come along with it are all in the works. We’ll be working on that for the next few months.”

Nickerson is a member of the North Nova Lumberjack Society, who are planning the event.

He says it will be great to have this competition in our backyard, and to showcase a different part of the province.

The first two events were held in Truro.

The Municipality of Barrington have expressed interest in supporting the event, and staff is seeking out further information.

Nickerson says Barrington has a rich history in lumberjack sports.

“It’s huge. A lot of thanks to the Wild Axe Park for creating what they’ve created in Barrington. It’s probably the main reason the event is coming to Barrington. So hats off to the Wild Axe Park
