Storm days are adding up for the South Shore Regional School Board.
There have been school closures on eight different occasions including six full days.
It’s concerning to the board superintendent.
Geoff Cainen says there are options to discuss.
He says, “Of concern for me is what happens in semestered schools. Knowing that a semester is half the year, maybe we need to begin to look at should we be adjusting that schedule somewhat in the calendar, so that we can still get enough teaching time in the second semester.”
Cainen says their decision to close schools is based on keeping students and staff safe.
The education minister is considering classes on Saturday and during March Break to make up for lost time for some school boards.
