Farley Mowat Owner Given Last Deadline; Mayor Disappointed

One final deadline has been given to the owner of the MV Farley Mowat.

Tracy Dodds was found in contempt of court for failing to remove the vessel from the Shelburne waterfront.

The court ordered penalties be imposed against Dodds including a $5,000 payment to the Town of Shelburne.

However, Mayor Karen Mattatall says he can avoid them if the ship is removed by May 31.

“It’s disappointing there is no question, one more time. We’ve been dealing with this for a very long time. However, at the end of the day what we want is for this vessel to be removed.

If Dodds doesn’t meet the deadline, penalties and 20 days jail time will be enforced.
