The eyes of the Atlantic provinces will be on Bridgewater this week.
The Atlantic Congress of Mayors is meeting to discuss challenges municipalities face and share solutions.
Bridgewater Mayor David Walker is excited to be co-hosting the event with the Municipality of Lunenburg.
He says it’s important to look over the fence to, “Compare what they’re doing to what we’re doing and learn from one another.”
South Shore MP Bernadette Jordan will be there to speak about federal money available to the municipalities.
MLAs Zach Churchill and Mark Furey will make presentations as well.
Walker says it’s important for mayors to work together.
“[It’s] good to look at ways that we can bring the mayors in Atlantic Canada together in initiatives that benefit us all” he said, “and give us some efficiencies when we do it collectively.”
The Atlantic Congress of Mayors meets twice a year and this is the first time they’ve been to the South Shore.
The thirty or so mayors will be in town until Friday.
