A new event in Lunenburg County is aiming to provide caregivers with much needed support.
The Courageous Caregivers Conference starts tomorrow.
The event will provide education on government and community supports, home safety, medication administration and legal services.
Organizer Carol Ann Brown says the conference will give caretakers more than information.
“It’s a day to connect with other caregivers who are providing care to loved ones,” she says. “Often times, caregivers are very isolated, so I think it’s really great to have the opportunity to talk to other people in the same situation.”
She says it’s crucial caretakers are given the support they need.
“If the caregivers are given what they need, then we decrease the potential for crisis within the home,” she says. “So it was very worthy spending the time and developing resources in order to facilitate this conference.”
Doors at the Bridgewater Fire Hall will open at 9 a.m.
Brown says if it goes well, she hopes to make this a quarterly event.
