A special guest of Lunenburg county is preparing to head back home to Halifax.
Work is being finalized on Theodore Too.
The popular tugboat has been at Snyders Shipyard in Dayspring since last November for retrofit.
Spokesperson Terri McCulloch says Theodore goes back into the LaHave River on Friday before a final inspection by Transport Canada.
“It’s kind of like the first day of school for Theodore. He’s getting ready to come back and do what he likes to do which is tour children and families around the Halifax harbour.”
Theodore will make his way back to the city next week.
McCulloch says the shipyard is one of the best at retrofit work.
“It’s not that common, you know, where he has a hat and face and we had to do some painting and stuff like that. They are able to work around the alterations that have been made to him other than being a regular tugboat.”
The tug is expected to become an official welcome ambassador of Halifax during a ceremony on May 26.
