Bonny Lea Farm Receives Donation From Lunenburg And Queens County Masons

A Chester organization offering residential and vocational programs for adults with disabilities is one step closer to purchasing a wheelchair accessible van.

Bonny Lea Farm has just received a donation of over $9,000 from the Lunenburg and Queens County Masons.

The group currently uses a large bus.

Fund Director, Liz Finney, says with only a few wheelchair users, having a large bus may not be the best option.

“Sitting all by yourself in a big bus can feel a little impersonal,” she says. “But also, we recognize that it isn’t the most fuel efficient way to get around.”

Getting a van that’s wheelchair accessible could cost over $45,000.

Finney says they will continue fundraising, and hope to reach their goal within the next two years.
