Bridgewater’s Wilkie Captures Bronze at Volleyball Nationals

A Bridgewater volleyball player has won a bronze medal at nationals.

Hannah Wilkie and her Tigers Volleyball teammates placed third at the Canadian under-18 women’s volleyball championship in Edmonton.

The Tigers downed the Manitoba Cobras in the bronze medal match.

The 18 year-old Wilkie says she’s thrilled with the result.

“We really played some of our best volleyball we’ve ever played. I’m really proud of how the team came together and we were really able to push ourselves. It was really exciting to see how strong our team really was.”

The bronze medal finish is the best Nova Scotia result in 30 years.

“People underestimate a small province and don’t really think too much about us, but it really shows that anybody can be good at volleyball with the amount of effort and training you put in it can go a long way.”

Wilkie has committed to attending Dalhousie in the fall to play volleyball and continue her education after she graduates next month from Bridgewater Junior-Senior High School.
