Feener Named Acting Police Chief in Bridgewater

A 23 year member of the Bridgewater Police Service has been named acting police chief.

Scott Feener will serve in the position after John Collyer was charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation in relation to a 17 year-old girl.

The move comes less than a week after the Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioner’s suspended Collyer for 60 days.

The Town of Bridgewater gave Feener the title of acting police chief during their meeting Monday evening.

Mayor David Mitchell says it was the right move.

“Scott has been deputy chief for awhile and acting in a chief capacity since Mr. Collyer has been off. It’s a good fit.”

He says he has full confidence in Feener.

Mitchell didn’t offer much comment about charges against John Collyer, saying he’s waiting for it to go through the court process.
