Flower Sidelined Following Off-Season Shoulder Surgery

A local member of the Halifax Mooseheads won’t be on the ice for 4-6 months.

Walter Flower of Lunenburg recently had surgery on his shoulder.

The 18 year-old believes his shoulder will be good as new once the recovery stage is complete.

“The surgeon said they repaired everything that needed repair. When the four to six months is up, my shoulder should be as good as the other one.”

Shoulder surgery was necessary after Flower suffered multiple injuries to it through his career.

The injury began when he played major bantam hockey and he aggravated it this season.

Flower says it was the right decision but he will miss training camp and possibly the opening part of the season.

“The earliest I would say would be like September, which would be the beginning of the season. The latest would be early October and I would miss a bit of the season but it wouldn’t be too bad.”

The injury has been a bit of a setback but Flower is hoping to be selected in the upcoming NHL draft June 23 and 24 in Chicago.
