RCMP Dismantle Large Scale Drug Operation in Martin’s River

A coordinated effort by police has helped dismantle a large scale drug operation in Lunenburg County.

RCMP searched a 22 acre property on Wilbur Hill Road in Martin’s River for roughly three days this week using dogs, a drone and an excavator.

The Mounties dismantled and seized two marijuana grow operations, 60 mature marijuana plants, approximately 110 pounds of processed and unprocessed marijuana, some hash oil, ‘shatter’, and methamphetamine pills.

Police also seized a large amount of cash and other paraphernalia.

RCMP members from Shelburne, Halifax and Lunenburg along with the Bridgewater Police Service assisted in the investigation.

Forty-five year-old Johnathan Christopher Hatt and 46 year-old Mary Retieffe-Hatt of Martin’s River face possession and possession for the purpose of trafficking charges.

Police say additional charges are expected.

Both have made court appearances in Bridgewater and will return on July 26.
