A provincial event coming to Lunenburg County is receiving support from the federal government.
The Nova Scotia 55+ Games are scheduled from September 13-16.
South Shore – St. Margaret’s MP, Bernadette Jordan, says $25,000 will be provided through the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

She says seniors face many challenges including isolation.
“And this is the kind of thing that keeps them active, it keeps them engaged, it keeps them involved with other people in their community and that’s something that’s really, really important. These are people who have given so much to build the communities that we live in.”
The games are hosted in Nova Scotia every second year.
There are 25 events and sports including cribbage, shuffleboard, golf and mountain biking.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of participants to Lunenburg County.
