Voters in the Town of Lunenburg will be going to the polls once again this summer.
A by-election to fill the seat left vacant after councillor Brian Davis resigned will be held July 29.
Mayor Rachel Bailey is encouraging people to put their name forward.
“If they want to be a part of making change for their community and making a positive contribution, that town council is a place to do that.”
Bailey says another option was to reduce the number of council positions.
But she says that would mean fewer voices being heard in government.
“We certainly hope that whatever has gone on in the past few months actually spurs people’s interest and demonstrates to them that the council table is theirs, and the seat is open, and we’re looking for people who are keen to fill it.”
Nominations to run must be submitted by July 4.
Bailey says it’s important to have many different voices around the table to ensure all views are heard.
