A new day park will soon be unveiled by the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg.
Just over one acre of land has been purchased by the municipality from a private land owner.
It is located on Highway 331 on the west side of the LaHave River in Conquerall Bank between Riverside Heights Road and Colonial Drive.
Director of Recreation, Trudy Payne, says LaHave River access is part of their open-space strategic plan.
“It had all the amenities that we were looking for in a park and an open-space property to provide people public access to the LaHave River on the west side of our municipality.”
Payne says they plan to add picnic tables and benches to the park.
“It’s really a place for families to go and have a picnic lunch. At some point in time we may look at a canoe/kayak launch of some sort so people can have access to the water.”
A ribbon-cutting event is scheduled for June 10 at 10 a.m with a rain date of June 15.
The municipality is also planning a contest to name the park and are trying to determine where to create a parking lot area.
