Shelburne’s Mayor Hopes New Health Centre Is First Step In Restoring Services

The ground is expected to be broken for the new community collaborative health centre in Shelburne.

The provincial health authority has given no firm date.

New doctors will provide their services from the new facility and Shelburne’s mayor says that’s great news.

But Karen Mattatall says there also needs to be services in the town that patients may be referred to.

“I’m certainly am hoping that that will be a next set step, that we will have services restored that we lost. The two new doctors are replacing one that retired. We realize that the caseload that a doctor would take is not the same that a doctor in the past would have taken.”

Mattatall hopes that the new clinic and the doctors is a start but the next step is getting services relocated in Shelburne.
