Five municipal units in Lunenburg County are waiting for a recommendation on a proposed amalgamation study.
Bridgewater Mayor David Walker says a joint meeting in Lunenburg yesterday was a good way to get everyone on the same page.
But he says this isn’t an issue that can be solved over night.
“I think a lot of things were aired,” he says, “I’m not sure I’d say ‘we’re closer to a resolution’ but I think we are talking, we are asking questions. So, it’s gaining more information.
Walker says there’s some debate about when the public should be consulted.
He says some feel they should hear from residents before they pay for the study while others want to wait until they fully understand the issue.
The steering committee is expected to give their recommendation in the next few months.
