A Lunenburg County business has been named exporter of the year.
Cedar Bay Grilling Company of Blandford received the award in Halifax on Thursday.
The award highlights companies that lead by example.
Doug Park is president of Cedar Bay Grilling.
He says he saw an opportunity to succeed in an abandoned fish plant in Blandford.
“You know, we understood there wasn’t a lot businesses on the South Shore,” he says, “and we thought that we could really develop something there.”
His company now employees 33 people and primarily exports to the US.
Eel Lake Oyster Farm of Yarmouth County and Pierce Fisheries of Shelburne County were among 10 companies province-wide also in the running.
